Big Blend Association
Fall started as a serpentine draft — ten captains, conferences, contracts, a cap, and a free-agent wire. It later went BYOT, came back as a draft, and is BYOT again. Draft results are the picks we still have. 2017 and 2019 opening clubs are who played after the draft when the pick sheet did not survive.
Why it existed
A fourth season (Fall) beside Spring, Summer, and Winter — a draft league that felt like the NBA offseason.
Recruit 70–80 players. Ten captains. Serpentine draft. Hat draw for color, pick order, and free-agency priority (the #10 pick got first crack at free agency).
Serpentine: round-1 #1 becomes round-2 #10.
Roster
7 players minimum
Contracts
2× three-year, 2× two-year, 2× one-year, 1 franchise tag / no-trade. 13–18 contract years per club.
Cap
$675 team cap. $75 a player. Championship club +$100. MVP $50 credit (cap, free agency, or pay-forward).
Six-day
$25 six-day contract — a 10-day-contract analog so a club short on a doubleheader could add a body without a one-game deal.
Playoffs
Drafted players had no game minimum. Free agents signed after a club’s fifth game were ineligible unless a significant injury.
Sponsors
Year one: league sponsors only ($550), no team sponsors, so every player paid the same. Tank tops for eight clubs; Black and Forest Green drew reversible mesh.
2017 — Two 22-minute halves, clock running, timeouts carry.
2018 — Two 20-minute halves, clock stops the last two minutes of the second, timeouts to half court.
Twelve colors. Expansion Pink and Gold joined year one.
